The hospital will open its doors from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday to help pair animals with humans. It's the 10th year the hospital has held the adoption day.
"There is nothing like experiencing the joy of a pet's unconditional love, and we hope to help as many pets as possible get a second chance to share that love," said Dr. Dean J. Cerf, the director of the hospital.
More than 30 shelters and rescue groups will bring dogs, cats, puppies available for adoption. Last year, more than 1,000 people attended the event and more than 250 animals were placed with families, the hospital said.
"Our slogan is ‘Open your heart and home to a friend for life,' and we invite people to help us adopt more pets at this event than ever before," said Keith Harris, hospital administrator.
